Choosing Your Backing Size
Allow an extra 5 inches / 12.7 cm on each side of your pattern for hemming. A 24 × 36-inch rug, for example, requires 34 × 46-inch backing. Measure your frame before choosing your fabric size to ensure the backing will fit.
